I was doing my usual manual wagon search and came across this. They know their audience, the seller comments are the best.

as a former owner of a impress everyone on jalopnik manual wagon unicorn, think it though. there are more important things than impressing jalopnik, like being able to drive your unicorn

But an allroad is significantly more Jalopnik (read unreliable) than an A 4 avant with the 2.0T. I’m coming from a 1.8t Passat so it’ll feel like home .

LOL - $12.9k for a car with a fair amount of body damage. You do you, Audi Tysons Corner.

I’ve heard fairly good things about B7 A4s actually.

Ditto. My wife is lusting after a newer A4-based Allroad, but I have to keep reminding her that everything she didn’t like about her A4-based Passat is still there, if not more so (premium fuel, high labor costs, random breakages). Plus it’s even smaller than the B5 Passat, so I have no idea how this conversation even has legs. Oh, yeah — because wife.
Then again, she did drive the B5 wagon again yesterday for the first time in 6 months (which is now my car) and probably realized how much nicer it is to drive an actual car and not a top-heavy 5,000# behemoth.

i hate that they call it an Allroad. The Allroad had adjust suspension. The new one is just a lifted A4

And I dislike the VW Alltrack for the same reason. All I took away from driving it is “I’d rather have a GTI, then a roof box for extra storage.”

Wait, I have the same car! Only impressed like 3 of you when I posted it, though, so...
Anyway, mine’s been really re liable! Definitely a far cry from an OG Allroad. Still, CP... Probably needs a timing belt. Just buy mine instead!

I bought one of these last year, been a relatively good car. Mine has 175k miles, and I needed to put a new fuel pump in, biggest problem so far. It’s very rewarding to drive, definitely doesn’t drive itself. I wouldn’t recommend xenons, they’re expensive and will throw faults.
I got mine for $6500.

Hmm, I must have missed it. I’m impressed so you can bump it up to 4 !
